Rogers' Chocolates, established in 1885 by Charles "Candy" W. Rogers[1854-1927}, is a well known haunted location in Victoria, BC.
It started out in a grocery store across the street from its current Heritage Store location, that was built in 1903.
Rogers' Chocolates is naturally one of the stops for any ghost tours in town.
Charles Rogers married Leah Rogers[1864-1952]in 1888 and together they made their chocolate store into a successful business known all over the world.
They loved their store so much, that apparently they decided to stay there even after death.
When the new owners tried to add milk chocolates to the inventory, that didn't go so well in the beginning as the original owners only liked dark chocolate. All the milk chocolate was thrown on the floor and individually crushed.
You could not even mention white chocolate in the store without causing issues with the original owners.
I was not able to do an evp session in the store due to it being too busy, but Psychic Medium Jennifer Von Behren could see 2 ghosts in there.
There was a man wearing suspenders, Charles Rogers, standing outside the store waving hello. He was very friendly and very talkative.
There was a female spirit, Leah Rogers, inside the store., who has been there a very long time.
Mr. Rogers said that the reason they didn't like white chocolate, was because it made his wife sick and it tasted "waxy."
They do like the way the place is set up now.
They have their favorite workers as well it seems as they watch how their beloved store is being run and how the customers are treated.
The store is privately owned today.
Mr. Rogers likes the new owner and thinks that she is really good.
He also likes it when she adds cinnamon in things.
He says that more grown ups come in there and he is calling the store "The Tiffanies of candy" , fancy candy.
The Rogers had a son, Frederick Morrison Rogers [1889-1905], who unfortunately wasn't interested in the candy store, but rather playing with dangerous explosives.
One day he had an accident and blew off all but 2 fingers in his hand.
After that he was never the same and in 1905, he decided to take his own life at the young age of 15.
Psychic Medium Jennifer Von Behren did not see any other spirits in the store at this time.
Rogers' Chocolates is a designated historical landmark inside and out with it's original windows and display cases, from the time it was a jewelry store.
It is a must visit for any chocolate lover.
Rogers' chocolates are amazing and the store itself is well worth seeing.
