Located in a building circa 1910-20 , Wallace District Mining Museum was established in 1956, with Fred Levering as it's first of many directors to come.
Due to needing more space, it moved to a different location, as space became available.
The museum is currently in a building, that once housed the Rice's Bakery.
Most all the buildings in this historic mining town have their own ghosts it seems, who choose to stay for whatever reason and the Wallace Mining Museum is no different.
Psychic Medium Jennifer Von Behren picked up 3 ghosts in this museum; 2 in the main exhibit area and one in the mock mine area.
In the main area , there is an old safe, that came with a male energy attachment. He is very protective of this safe, as he used to guard it.
He said that he had to be really good at shooting and had to shoot more than one guy and one sneaky prostitute, who was trying to steal whatever was in it.
The second ghost Jennifer saw was standing next to the old Jail cage. He is a tall man with brown hair and a mustache and is wearing a hat. He was a boss at a mine he had worked at.
According to him, this cage used to be outside at some mining area , where it was used to hold drunk people in. They called it a drunk cage.
He said that they didn't use to have the most stable people there all the time. He actually kept calling them "raging alcoholics".
Miners life was hard, so they were known to drink a lot in the many saloons at the time and hitting the 'cat houses' afterwards.
This man was not shy to say how he felt, as he was getting very worked up.
Apparently where he was working at, they had many Chinese workers. He said that he had to put them in the cage all the time, because they were drunk and doing drugs. Then they would get sick and just sit around and not work much. He added that he is not racist, as what he is telling is true.
Jennifer believes that this man is George A. Pettibone. {1862-1908}
He was a miner, who was appointed justice of peace at Gem, a member of the miners union and also a Frisco mill dynamiter.
He was showing Jennifer images of blowing up a section of a hill.
He was being quite flirty and funny with her.
The third ghost that Jennifer saw was a skinny man in the mock mine area.
I knew I had company as soon as I stepped in there. I had my voice recorder running the whole time and I heard this man say 'I am Lance"
He is specifically attached to the equipment in a certain area, which I will note under the pictures, as well as the safe I mentioned earlier.
He said that the equipment did not work always.
Where ever he was working at, collapsed crushing him to death.
The museum also carries residual energy, as lot of old buildings do.
On the main side, " George" kept talking to me as if he was giving me a tour.
You will find many interesting exhibits with many artifacts, tools, pictures, maps and information of the mining days, union strikes, mining wars and much more in the Wallace District Mining Museum.
When in town, be sure to visit the mining museum and the many other local museums, to learn about the history of this historic mining town in the Center of the Universe.
