Pulaski Tunnel trail is a moderate four-mile hike with an 800 feet elevation gain, that takes you to the Pulaski Tunnel overlook, not to the entrance of the actual tunnel, which is deep down in the ravine.

When there is a tragic event with loss of many lives, such as the Great Fire of 1910[ also called the Big Burn or the Big Blow-up}, that killed several people and destroyed part of the historic town of Wallace, one will often find residual energy and souls, that still remain in that location.

As I reached the overlook area of the trail. I did a short evp{electronic voice phenomena] session and got a response.

Psychic Medium Jennifer Von Behren saw 2 male spirits, both fire fighters, standing by the overlook wall .

One of them had died due to suffocation{ smoke inhalation} and the other, when a falling tree hit him.

Forest Ranger Edward['Big Ed"] C. Pulaski[ 1866-1931] led a crew of around 45 men thru' smoke and flames to safety into an old abandoned mine, hence the name Pulaski Tunnel, and saved all but 6 men. Five died inside the tunnel due to suffocation and one outside the tunnel after a tree hit him.

So I asked the 2 male spirits, if their names are on the Pulaski list of the 6 men that died.

The shorter of the men looked at the taller one and said" Hey Harry, are we on the list"? The taller man responded " I think we are".

I don't know whether these men were part of the Pulaski crew, as there were other men that died due to a fallen tree or suffocation, but one of the names on the list is Harold "Harry" Hansen [1875-1910], who died in the Pulaski Tunnel. I have not been able to confirm which of the other 5 men died outside the tunnel.

The Great Fire of 1910 was the most disastrous fire ever recorded in the Northern Region.

Ed Pulaski was not only a hero, who saved lives during the 1910 Great Fire, but he is the developer of the fire fighting tool pulaski, that is used today by fire fighters everywhere.

The Pulaski Tunnel trail honors all those, who lost their lives and risk their lives fighting fires.

As one of the ghosts still remaining in the Lewiston ID Court House area said " I stay to help those, who are going thru' what I did and keep them calm", I would like to think, that these 2 fire fighters by the overlook to the Pulaski Tunnel, are doing the same and watching over those still battling fires.

Pulaski Tunnel trail and the mine were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
